Los Folkloristas
Los Folkloristas
November, 2006
Los Folkloristas was founded in 1966 to preserve and record the traditional music of Mexico and Latin America. They have recorded more than 30 albums worldwide and contributed to the soundtrack for the award-winning films El Norte and Mi Famillia (My Family). With more than 100 instruments in their collection, this seven-member ensemble can perform music from over a dozen different countries and even from pre-Columbian America. They continue to be one of the most popular groups from all of Latin America, receiving the INDIE award in World Music from the National Association of Record Distributors (NAIRD) in 1992 for their Flying Fish recording Mexico! Entertaining and equally educational, Los Folkloristas opens the door to a traditional culture, fantastic to both young and old!
