Retracing Nature, Culture, & Infrastructure in the Americas
Gardens, Gods, & Grids: Retracing Nature, Culture, & Infrastructure in the Americas
By Dara Larson | December, 2015
Dara Larson is a Professor of Art at Alverno College and a mentor at RedLine Milwaukee who retraces photo documents and past artwork from multiple years of travel in the Americas to create a series of time collages, merging photographed reality with imaginary and psychological worldviews. The works overlapped and pasted together the most powerful symbols and themes from her journeys through North, Central, and South America. Inspired by land use and city story, Larson explored historic and contemporary themes that incorporated natural and built environments with art, healing, and spirituality.
