Painting Borges: Art Interpreting Literature
Painting Borges: Art Interpreting Literature
Group Exhibition | April, 2012
Sixteen artists created twenty-four pieces that reflected on the work of Argentinian author Jorge Luis Borges, one of the most important literary figures of the twentieth century. Like Borges’ deeply philosophical texts, each piece of the installation prompted the audience to address fundamentals of human existence: identity and memory, freedom and destiny, and faith and divinity. Painting Borges: Art Interpreting Literature was organized by the University at Buffalo Samuel P. Capen Chair in Comparative Literature and Philosophy, Buffalo, New York and curated by Jorge J. E. Gracia.
